I can't find my class of service. Have the names changed?

VIA Rail has renamed its classes to make it easier for you to understand the difference between the various classes and to make a more informed decision.

Please consult the following table to view the changes:

Where do your trains travel (map)?

To serve you, VIA Rail Canada runs more than 460 trains per week over a 12,500-kilometre network linking more than 450 localities in Canada. Four million passengers per year travel on VIA trains.

What is the "Corridor"?

The Corridor covers southern Ontario and southern Quebec , including Québec City, Montréal, Ottawa, Kingston, Toronto, London, Niagara Falls, Sarnia and Windsor.

Are stopovers permitted?

The term "stopover" is defined as any break in a through journey of a duration of 4 hours or more including the time between connecting trains, or any change in fare plan or class of service.

All Classes and fare plans except Business class:

  • One complimentary stopover is allowed at no additional charge. 
  • If passengers do more than one stopover, the stopover of the longest duration is the complimentary stopover.  
  • Additional stopovers are charged leg-by-leg, as used.

All Business class fare plans:

  • For travel on all fare plans in Business Class only, the first stopover is allowed at no additional charge, provided that this stopover takes place at TorontoMontreal or Ottawa only.  
  • A stopover at any other point is not complimentary, and subsequent stopovers at TorontoMontreal or Ottawa are charged on a leg-by-leg as used.

Prestige Sleeper Class:

  • One complimentary stopover is allowed at no additional charge.  Please note that this stop-over policy applies for Winnipeg and Jasper.
