Are credit or debit cards accepted as forms of payment on board? 

Accepted forms of payment vary depending on the selected route.

Québec City-Windsor corridor (including Niagara)

Traditional and prepaid credit cards (Amex, Visa and Mastercard), and debit cards are the only forms of payment accepted on board trains in the Québec City-Windsor corridor (including Niagara). No cash is accepted on these trains.

Sudbury-White River-Senneterre-Jonquière trains

Traditional and prepaid credit cards (Amex, Visa and Mastercard), and cash are the forms of payment accepted on board. Debit cards (including Visa and MasterCard debit) are not accepted.

The Ocean (Montréal-Halifax)

Forms of payment on board: 

Credit Cards: VISA, Mastercard & American Express 

Not accepted:

Cash, VIA Rail Gift Cards, Debit cards and Prepaid Credit Cards

Jasper-Prince Rupert, Winnipeg-Churchill and The Canadian trains

Only traditional and prepaid credit cards (Amex, Visa and Mastercard) and cash are accepted.
