Medical items
Travellers with breathing problems can bring on board certain trains an oxygen concentrator, a pressure ventilator for sleep apnea.
The following medical items are allowed as carry-on baggage on Corridor trains (Québec-Windsor).
Pressure ventilation devices for sleep apnea
These devices are subject to the following restrictions:
- Limit of one (1) compressed oxygen cylinder per traveller.
- The compressed oxygen cylinder must not exceed 91 cm (36 in) in length and 15 cm (6 in) in diameter (maximum volume of 15,000 cm3 or 1,000 in3).
- It must be transported in a cart that protects the regulator.
Compressed oxygen cylinders
Travellers with respiratory problems can bring an oxygen concentrator, a compressed oxygen cylinder, on board the train. Compressed oxygen cylinders are subject to the following restrictions:
- Limit of one (1) compressed oxygen cylinder per traveller.
- The compressed oxygen cylinder must not exceed 91 cm (36 in) in length and 15 cm (6 in) in diameter (maximum volume of 15,000 cm3 or 1,000 in3).
- It must be transported in a cart that protects the regulator.
Medical accessories*
*CPAP devices, portable oxygen tanks, walkers, canes, wheelchairs, etc.
Medical supplies are permitted on board and will not be deducted from the hand baggage allowance.
Other restrictions
Compressed oxygen cylinders are not accepted as checked baggage on board VIA Rail trains.
