Edmonton's North Saskatchewan River valley is the largest stretch of urban parkland in North America, with 22 major parks and over 150 kilometres of trails. Go for a stroll and get a glimpse of Alberta's birdlife. Take your bike on the trails. Have a picnic in the clover. In the winter, snap on your cross-country skis or snowshoes and venture into the snow.

Devonian Botanic Garden of Edmonton
With just one glance at Edmonton's Devonian Botanical garden you will fall under its spell. As the northernmost botanical gardens in Canada, it's the only one that will give you the chance to see and smell alpine specimens native to Alberta. Created in 1959 by the faculty of agriculture and forestry of the University of Alberta, this 110-acre garden even gives you the chance to witness this flora in an environment full of natural ponds and forests.
