The Canrailpass is the perfect choice for people who want to go a long way on a limited budget. Travel from the Atlantic to the Pacific and even north to Hudson Bay! Or purchase a Canrailpass for travel exclusively within the Québec City - Windsor corridor. The choice is up to you!
You’ll get 7 one-way trips anywhere in Canada, in Economy class, during a 21-day period.
VIA now offers you greater flexibility with a choice of two Canrailpasses - System. Choose yours according to your travel needs:
-
1. The Supersaver Canrailpass - System offers the best savings. Booking must be made three (3) or more days in advance. Availability of seats is limited.
-
2. The new Discounted Canrailpass - System offers great savings with more flexibility. Users will benefit from a greater availability of seats than the Supersaver Canrailpass, and bookings can be made just one day prior to departure (subject to availability).
-
Each Canrailpass - System comprises 7 credits, each of which is valid for a one-way trip in Economy class between two pre-determined cities (or points between, in either direction). Upgrades to other classes of service are not permitted.
-
One complimentary stopover is allowed on each trip. In the case of multiple stopovers, the stopover of longest duration will be considered to be the complimentary stopover.
-
Each segment of your trip, including connections, must commence within the period of validity of the Canrailpass – System.
-
The Supersaver Canrailpass – System and all travel tickets issued using a Supersaver Canrailpass – System must be purchased at least three (3) days prior to departure date.
-
The Discounted Canrailpass – System and all travel tickets issued using a Discounted Canrailpass – System must be purchased at least one (1) day prior to departure date.
-
The number of seats available to Supersaver Canrailpass – System users is limited and must be booked in “Economy – Supersaver fare”.
-
The number of seats available to Discounted Canrailpass – System users is limited and must be booked in “Economy – Discounted fare”.
-
Each Canrailpass - System credit is non-transferable and is only valid for travel by the person in whose name the Canrailpass - System has been issued. Verification is automated and the first and last names of the passenger travelling must match the first and last names given at the time of purchase of the Canrailpass - System. You are required to show photo identification at any time upon request of a VIA employee.
-
A Canrailpass – System is refundable and exchangeable, less a $50 service charge (plus applicable taxes) provided:
o It has not expired
o No trips have been made using it; and
o No tickets using it have been cancelled after the applicable train’s scheduled departure
Once a trip has been made, or a ticket using it has been cancelled after the train’s scheduled departure, the Canrailpass-System becomes completely non-refundable and non-exchangeable, even if the paper ticket has not been issued.
-
Tickets booked using a Canrailpass may be cancelled at any time prior to the scheduled departure of the train, and the credit for the trip will be returned to the Canrailpass for future use within the validity period of the Canrailpass. Credits are not returned for tickets which are cancelled after the scheduled departure of the train. In this case, the credit is forfeited and cannot be used again.
-
Tickets issued using a Canrailpass - System may be exchanged subject to the following conditions:
o For travel on a different train but on the same date as the original booking, tickets must be exchanged prior to the departure of the original train and the new ticket must be booked in the applicable booking fare class.
o For travel on a different date than the original booking, tickets must be exchanged no later than the number of days prior to departure for the pass purchased, and in the applicable booking fare class. Note that your original booking must be cancelled prior to departure of the train.
-
Remaining credits (unused) at the expiration date of the Canrailpass - System are not refundable and non-transferable or exchangeable.
-
Your Canrailpass - System credits are automatically tracked. No voucher or document is required for exchange at time of ticket issuance.
-
Canrailpass - System credits cannot be combined with any other discount or promotion. Upgrades to other classes of service are not permitted.
