Important message for passengers

In preparation for the launch of its new booking platform, VIA Rail Canada’s (VIA Rail) reservation system will be unavailable between 7 p.m. (ET) on Friday, November 17 and 5 p.m. (ET) on Saturday, November 18.

During this period, new reservations, booking modifications and cancellations to existing reservations will not be possible on any platform online, in stations or through our VIA Customer Center. If you need to make a change to your booking, please do so prior to the scheduled maintenance online or contact the VIA Customer Center (1 888 VIA-RAIL) (1 888 842-7245) or 1 800 268-9503 (deaf or hard-of-hearing).

All our trains, however, will be operating as scheduled.

Here are some good things to do before Friday (and before every trip) to ensure you get the most out of your trip:

Boarding pass

Print your boarding pass or have it handy in your list of emails.

Check your trip details now

Booking modifications and cancellations to existing reservations WILL NOT be possible during the infrastructure maintenance. If you need to make a change to your booking, please do so prior to the scheduled maintenance online or contact the VIA Customer Center (1 888 VIA-RAIL) ( 888 842-7245) or 1 800 268-9503 (deaf or hard of hearing).

Train-Alert Service

By subscribing to the VIA Train-Alert Service before Friday, you will receive notifications of the train status, service disruptions or any delays by email or SMS (text message).

Follow your train in real-time

Select your train and track its location. The new train location tracking map gives you train statuses and estimates of arrival times for every VIA Rail train across Canada.

VIA Rail mobile app

The mobile application will be available in offline mode. So, please make sure to log in before Friday November 17 and verify that all your trips are there. You will be able to use it during your trip. Note: Please do not log out of your account afterwards.

New reservations

Making a new booking via web, phone or in station will not be possible.

Your VIA profile

You will not have access to your VIA profile or VIA Préférence points balance.
