In exceptional circumstances when VIA Rail must cancel a train service and no alternative transportation is provided, passengers are entitled to a full refund with no service charges for the cancelled train. This refund is sent automatically as soon as possible, no further action is required from passengers. If your trip included a return trip that you wish to cancel, we kindly ask that you contact our customer center to request a cancellation and refund.

Processing time for requests can vary depending on the number of passengers affected.

Please note that only travel segments booked together in a single transaction on the VIA Rail website are considered guaranteed connections. If you book travel segments separately and miss a connection, you will not be eligible to compensation of any kind.
