The Butchart Gardens

This National Historic Site has been enticing visitors to Vancouver Island since the early 1900s. Starting with the Sunken Garden, formerly a limestone quarry, Butchart Gardens offers 55 acres of beauty in every season. Spring features tulips, daffodils and hyacinths, and summer the innumerable blooms of the Rose Garden. Perennial borders start to flower in late summer, with Japanese maples turning russet, gold and red in the fall. Enjoy a menagerie carousel year round and, in the summer, take a tour of Tod Inlet in a 12-passenger electric boat. Entertainment in July and August includes evening concerts, night illuminations and Saturday fireworks.
