Jardins de Métis/Reford Gardens

A national historic site, the Reford Gardens (Les Jardins de Métis) are internationally recognized as one of Canada's outstanding gardens. Covering more than 40 acres, the gardens are the creation of a passionate gardener and plant lover, Elsie Reford. Visitors to this verdant domain can admire the splendours of some 3,000 species and varieties of native and exotic plants in 18 gardens. One of the highlights of any visit is Estevan Lodge, the 37-room house built by Lord Mount Stephen in 1887 as a fishing retreat. Today, it welcomes visitors to its dining rooms, museum and exhibitions. On a site adjacent to the historic gardens, the International Garden Festival presents contemporary gardens created by artists, architects and landscape architects from around the world. Fine dining, cafés and boutiques are also on site.
