Since the 17th century, Artillery Park has been a site dedicated to the defence of Quebec City.
Located near the St. John Gate in the very heart of Old Quebec, it brings to life over 250 years of history during the French, British and Canadian periods. Artillery Park will definitely delight history buffs, as well as lovers of architecture. Visitors can explore unique structures and buildings that bear witness to the military and industrial history of Quebec City. There are three buildings to visit in this architectural grouping. First, at the Arsenal Foundry, you can enjoy the fine detail of a scale model of Quebec City dating from 1808 that includes more than 1000 buildings.
An interpretive guide will be pleased to accompany you through the exhibits and vaults of the impressive Dauphine Redoubt, where soldiers and officers of the colonial period lived. The Officers' Quarters features luxurious period decor and antique furniture. The tea ceremony, a truly unique experience, is offered at the Officers' Mess. You will be surprised by the extent to which the military presence has marked and shaped the unique character of Quebec City over the centuries.
