| Description | Opened in 1866 one year before Confederation the Parliament Buildings stand on a hill overlooking the Ottawa River. Resplendent with Gothic Revival architecture, the buildings are a dramatic symbol of Canadian heritage. When touring the grounds, don't miss the Library, with its hundreds of carved flowers, masks and mythical creatures, the paving stones, the Memorial Chamber, or the dramatic war paintings in the Senate Chamber. You may even get a chance to watch Canada's Parliament at work! Guided tours are available. |
