Cartier House is a unique meeting place, an intimate setting where you can discover a great figure of Canadian history. George-Etienne Cartier (1814-73), was a Father of Confederation, politician, lawyer and businessman who lived in a tumultuous period of profound social change.
From the moment visitors cross the threshold of the upper-middle-class Victorian residence inhabited by the Cartier family, they are returned into the past to relive the everyday life of an entire household. The Sir George-Etienne Cartier National Historic Site of Canada is transformed into an interactive museum-theatre, filled with surprises and delights for people of every age! Depending on the season, theatrical dramatizations may offer visitors lessons in etiquette or show them how to prepare for a Victorian Christmas in an authentic setting.
