| Description | The Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal was founded by the Québec government in 1964. The permanent collection comprises some 7,000 works, including the largest collection of art by Quebecer, Canadian and international artists. Our mission is to promote and preserve contemporary Québec art as well as Canadian and international contemporary art, through exhibitions and numerous other cultural activities. Supported by the Education and Documentation Department, the museum presents a host of educational activities to further familiarize the general public with contemporary art. The museum also stages numerous multimedia events, including performances, new dance, experimental theatre, contemporary music, videos and films.
