Kingston is a popular Ontario tourist destination at the confluence of the St. Lawrence River and Lake Ontario.
Kingston is known as the “Limestone City” for its many historic limestone buildings dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. History lovers will want to explore the Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nature buffs can take a ferry to the St. Lawrence Islands National Park while boaters have Lake Ontario, the St. Lawrence, and the Thousand Islands on which to ply their craft.
Kingston is a wonderful city to explore on foot. Wander through neighbourhoods with many heritage buildings, stroll around the Farmer’s Market and Antiques Market, and watch sailboats along the beautiful waterfront.
The Kingston train station is located within a short drive of hotels and main tourist attractions. There are many daily departures to Kingston from Toronto, Montréal and Ottawa.
