This summer, kids travel for only $10!
With VIA Rail, seeing the country with the whole family this summer has never been so accessible. Travel between June 24 and September 10, 2010 and pay only $10 for each child (2–11) who accompanies you (up to 5 children per adult). Then sit back and take advantage of VIA Rail perks like priority boarding, crafts for the kids, and lots of room for the whole family to stretch their legs.
How to book
- Log in with your profile or create one prior to booking.
- Choose your destination, indicating the number of passengers in the "Adult", "60+", "Youth" or "Student" sections and enter the number of passengers in the "Child" section (for this promotion, a maximum of five (5) children per accompanying person and a maximum of 6 passengers in total per booking is allowed. If the total amount of passengers exceeds 6, you will need to do more than one booking, keeping in mind that children cannot be booked alone).
- Enter your travel dates and click on "Search".
- On the results page, select a convenient departure time.
- To be eligible for the $10 child fare, choose “Economy - supersaver fare” on the results page in the "Select class and fare plan" menu of your chosen departure and/or return train.
- Proceed with the online booking.
- The $10 supersaver child fare will be applied automatically if your booking meets the required conditions. Tickets may be picked up at a self-service ticketing kiosk or at a VIA Rail ticket counter.
- When booking online, your ticket will be considered as having been purchased at the time of your transaction.
Conditions
- With the purchase of a one-way or round trip Economy class adult, 60+, youth or student ticket at supersaver fare, up to five (5) children (ages 2 to 11) are entitled to a supersaver fare of $10 each per direction for the same trip.
- Children's tickets must also be purchased in Economy class at supersaver fare.
- In order for the children to qualify for this supersaver child fare, at least one accompanying person must purchase his or her ticket in Economy class at supersaver fare.
- The accompanying person must be 18 years of age or over.
- Travel must be completed between June 24 and September 10, 2010 (inclusive).
- Tickets must be booked at least three (3) days prior to departure, and the number of seats available at Economy-supersaver fare is limited.
- Tickets are subject to all existing conditions and restrictions of the Economy-supersaver fare plan, including conditions for refund and exchange.
- Tickets must be paid for at the time of booking (reservations for this special promotional fare are not accepted unless payment is made at the time of booking).
- Tickets may be purchased online at viarail.ca, by telephone at 1 888 VIA-Rail (1 888 842-7245) (TTY 1 800 368-9503), in person at a VIA ticket counter or at a travel agency.
- Not applicable to unaccompanied children or to group travel.
