New for 2009 – A new schedule provides an extended layover in Winnipeg that allows travellers to take in some local sites.

Maritime Learning Experience on the Ocean

From the mouth-watering regional cuisine like fish chowder, a lobster-trapping vignette complete with Larry the Lobster and his lobster crate to an on-train newsletter that keeps customers informed along the way, VIA’s Maritime Learning Experience makes the grade no matter what your age. Throughout the journey VIA’s Learning Coordinators eagerly provide travellers with a unique learning experience on rails.

VIA’s Renaissance in “The Corridor”

With elevated seats, 2-1 seating configuration and a service lounge exclusive to Business class passengers, VIA’s Renaissance has brought new meaning to comfort and elegance in the Human Way to travel. New for 2009– the Renaissance, with enhanced meal service experience will be added to VIA’s express trains between Montreal and Toronto.

The Toronto-Niagara Bike Train

With the installation of 56 bike racks in a baggage car, cycling enthusiasts can explore the Greenbelt and the many scenic trails of Niagara and Toronto. Offered on select departures throughout the summer months, this year’s Bike Train is sure to “move” you.

Fall 2009 - VIA will be piloting a Toronto-Montreal Bike Train giving cyclists access to Quebec’s famous 4,000km Route Verte.

Inside VIA'S Chatered Service Train PictureVIA’s chartered car service offers a unique travel experience tailored to the needs of special groups. Priva offers individuals, organizations and companies the custom use of either a single car, or an entire train.
This service is available on all trains and routes served by VIA. With a variety of cars (like the Glen Fraser Lounge pictured) and services to choose from, the possibilities are endless. You create the idea and VIA’s Priva team will create the experience.

The Great White North

Family of White Bears PictureNot quite so far north that you’ll see igloos, but VIA’s northern services bring you “up-close and personal” with polar bears, beluga whales, birds, wildlife and of course the Aurora Borealis. If it’s polar bears and belugas and the Northern Lights you want to see then VIA’s Winnipeg to Churchill service is the ticket. VIA’s Jasper to Prince Rupert service is your best pick for black bears, moose, elk, eagles and other wildlife. But for a real bird’s eye view of gannets and other bird life, on board VIA’s Montréal to Gaspé train is where you’ll want to be! Next year won’t just be remembered for the year the games came to Canada, make it the year you came and explored Canada!
