VIA Rail offering alternate transportation between Churchill, Gillam and Thompson on Sunday, August 10th

Winnipeg, August 9, 2014 – VIA Rail’s train #692 scheduled to depart Churchill on Saturday August 9th has been cancelled due to operational issues. Passengers travelling from Churchill to Gillam and Thompson, as well as from Gillam to Thompson will be offered alternate transportation on Sunday, August 10th. Train service between Thompson and Winnipeg will be offered according to the normal schedule. VIA Rail is communicating with customers who have reservations on the affected train.

The next train travelling in this area is scheduled to leave Thompson towards Churchill on Monday, August 11th at 5 p.m. The next departure from Churchill towards south is scheduled on Tuesday, August 12th at 7:30 p.m.

We regret the inconvenience that this situation may cause. Customers wishing to cancel or change their date of travel may do so at no additional charge by calling 1 888 VIA-RAIL (1 888 842-7245) or 1 800 268-9503 (hearing impaired).
