Travel Advisory – VIA Rail services between Toronto and Montréal to resume this evening while services between Toronto and Ottawa will resume tomorrow

MONTREAL, July 11, 2014 – VIA Rail Canada announced that as of 6 p.m. this evening, CN has allowed passenger train service to resume on the Kingston Subdivision, permitting VIA Rail to operate its trains between Toronto and Montréal. Service between Toronto and Ottawa will resume tomorrow morning (Saturday, July 12). Following yesterday’s derailment of a CN freight train, VIA Rail’s service on these routes was interrupted and alternate transportation was offered to its passengers.

Delays are expected throughout the weekend due to possible railway congestion. Service is expected to be completely back to normal by Monday.
