VIA Rail wants you to see life in colour!

VIA partners with the Loto-Québec International Fireworks Competition for the 15th consecutive year.

QUÉBEC CITY, July 21, 2011 --
VIA Rail Canada announced today that it is again partnering with the Loto-Québec International Fireworks Competition in Québec City, which will take place at the Parc de la Chute-Montmorency site between July 23 and August 10, 2011. VIA is extending a special invitation to fireworks enthusiasts to attend the VIA Rail evening on August 6 where they are sure to be awed by the Italy team with their show entitled Notte di fuoco (Night of fire).

For the past 15 years, VIA Rail has been among the event’s major sponsors. If we consider the fact that one-third of the spectators come from outside the Québec City region, it is clear that a significant number of them choose the train as their means of transportation. The train is more than just a vehicle; it is also a fun and beautiful experience, as are the Loto-Québec International Fireworks Competition”, explained Steve Del Bosco, VIA’s Chief Marketing and Sales Officer.

VIA Rail urges the public to travel to Québec City by train to take in the pyrotechnics performances by master fireworks handlers who are competing, and also to benefit from pleasant, environmentally-friendly, and affordable travel. There are several offers in effect in the Québec City-Windsor corridor, including reduced fares for children (2 to 11), youth (12-25) and the 60+.

For more information about these special offers or for train schedules, please visit VIA’s Web site at viarail.ca. Passengers can reserve their tickets at the self-service ticketing kiosks located in several stations in the Québec City-Windsor corridor, by calling 1-888-VIA-RAIL (1-888-842-7245) or 1-800-268 9503 (TTY for the hearing impaired), or by contacting their travel agent.
