VIA Rail and TCRC Reach Tentative Agreement

Montreal, Friday, April 8, 2011 - VIA Rail Canada has announced that a tentative four-year agreement has been reached with the Teamsters Canada Rail Conference (TCRC), representing VIA’s locomotive engineers. The agreement must be ratified by union members.

“VIA is pleased that the parties have come to an agreement without any impact on our services,” said Marc Laliberté, VIA’s President and Chief Executive Officer. "I would like to thank VIA’s team and our colleagues in the TCRC leadership for arriving at this agreement. This is good news for our customers, our employees and Canadians”.

The new contract, when ratified, will be effective until December 31, 2014.
