VIA Rail Operations in Ontario/Quebec/Maritimes: Extra cars; No cancellations; Major delays

Montréal – VIA Rail Canada plans to operate all trains in Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes today. VIA will also add cars wherever possible to accommodate the anticipated increased demand for train travel today. Significant delays are expected throughout the region however, as crews work to clear heavy snow accumulation off the tracks.

Due to the extreme weather, poor road conditions and flight cancellations, demand for seats is particularly high today. Passengers are advised to book as early as possible to ensure seats are available.

For more information on train schedules or to book a trip anywhere in the VIA system, customers can visit VIA’s secure Web site at viarail.ca. Passengers also can book their tickets by calling 1 888 VIA-RAIL (1 888 842-7245), TTY 1 800 268-9503 (hearing impaired). Tickets are also available at kiosks in major Corridor stations or through their travel agent.

VIA offers a stress-free, safe and comfortable winter travel alternative.  For a complete listing of train departures, station and on-board services as well as fare plans, visit viarail.ca.
