VIA services between Montreal and Toronto remain affected by freight derailment

Services expected to gradually return to normal operations this afternoon

MONTREAL - VIA Rail Canada wishes to advise travellers that service between Montreal and Toronto remain affected today as a result of yesterday’s CN freight derailment near Morrisburg, Ontario, just east of Brockville. 

A number of trains have been rerouted through Ottawa in order to reach their final destination. Delays of between two and three hours are expected. 

Other VIA trains may incur minor delays. VIA has been advised by CN that regular service on this line will be re established throughout the afternoon. 

Customers can obtain a complete refund or make changes to their reservation with no service charges.
