VIA's services between Toronto and Winnipeg affected by freight train mechanical failure

WINNIPEG
   – As a result of a Canadian National freight train which became disabled yesterday near Rivers, Manitoba VIA Rail Canada has had to suspend service between Winnipeg and Toronto in both directions.  The disabled train has temporarily blocked the line and delayed the operation of VIA’s Canadian of February 27th, enroute from Vancouver to Toronto.

VIA is making arrangements to accommodate those passengers affected including providing alternate transportation where possible.

VIA has also had to temporarily suspend new ticket sales on all trains on the affected route until the next scheduled departure.

VIA expects to resume regular operation of service between Winnipeg and Toronto on Thursday, March 3rd and between Toronto and Winnipeg on Saturday, March 5th
