MONTREAL
– Due to an accident involving a Canadian National freight train near Cornwall, Ontario, Monday morning, VIA Rail Canada has had to reroute its Montreal-Toronto trains, in both directions, via Ottawa, or in some cases replace its trains with bus service, over the past day and a half. Normal service was restored on this route Tuesday afternoon.

Given the heavy backlog of trains that have been waiting to go through the accident site, VIA wishes to advise passengers to expect delays of up to approximately one hour for the rest of today.

VIA wishes to apologize for any inconvenience this disruption may have caused to its passengers.

Customers wishing further information may check for updates at www.viarail.ca, or call 1 888-VIA RAIL (842-7245).
