VIA’s Early Morning Montreal/Toronto Trains Affected By Freight Derailment


MONTREAL - VIA Rail Canada wishes to advise travellers that its early trains on March 3rd, 2010 between Montreal and Toronto will be affected by the CN freight derailment which occurred March 2nd near Morrisburg, Ontario, east of Brockville.

Train 52: Departing Toronto at 7:05 AM, March 3rd, 2010 and heading for Montreal will terminate at Brockville and passengers will be bused to Montreal. A delay of about an hour should be expected.

Train 53: Departing Montreal at 6:30 AM March 3rd, 2010 and heading for Toronto will be re-routed via Ottawa. A delay of 2 to 3 hours should be expected.

Trains later in the morning will likely be affected and passengers are advised to expect delays. VIA has received confirmation that line clearance should occur around noon.

Passengers may opt for a full refund or change of reservation with no service charges.

Trains Re-routed via Ottawa – Expect Delays

VIA Rail Canada wishes to advise travellers that all trains between Montreal and Toronto are affected by a CN freight derailment which occurred this afternoon near Morrisburg, Ontario, east of Brockville.

Trains will be re-routed via Ottawa. Average delays of 2 to 3 hours should be expected.

Passengers may opt for a full refund or change of reservation with no service charges.

VIA has not yet received confirmation on a time for line clearance and is unsure if this derailment will affect trains tomorrow.
