VIA's Northern Manitoba Services Temporarily Suspended

Winnipeg –VIA Rail Canada wishes to advise travellers that due to mechanical difficulties it has cancelled service between Winnipeg and Churchill from December 25-27, 2008.

VIA‘s northbound Winnipeg to Churchill departure, train no 693 for December 25th is cancelled.  Since this same equipment is used on the return trip, consequently, VIA’s southbound train no 692, which is was scheduled to leave Churchill on December 27th has also been cancelled.

Regular service between Winnipeg and Churchill will resume from Winnipeg, on Tuesday, December 30th, and from Churchill on Thursday, January 1st, 2009.

VIA is arranging for alternate transportation for passengers holding tickets departing on these trains.
