VIA's Chaleur Service Affected by washout near New Carlisle, Québec

Montréal
– As a result of ongoing work to clear a section of the track affected by flooding Monday near New Carlisle, Québec, VIA Rail Canada wishes to advise travellers that, regular train service on the Chaleur between New Carlisle and Gaspé has been temporarily disrupted.

VIA is arranging alternate transportation for its customers between New Carlisle and Gaspé, in both directions.

As a result, VIA will not be able to accept bicycles or pets for any stations between New Carlisle and Gaspé.

While VIA has not yet received exact information as to how long it will be before the track, the property of Matapédia and Gulf Railway, will be cleared, it is estimated that regular service may resume within the next few days.

During the holiday period, between December 19th and January 2nd VIA’s Chaleur operates from Montréal to Gaspé every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday and from Gaspé to Montréal every Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
