Windsor’s new station has opened its doors! As of September 11, the building is complete and welcoming our passengers.

The new station, which can seat up well over 100 travellers boasts a very high and transparent roof, allowing for much natural light. The one-floor station has an open concept design which is airy, bright and comfortable.  The building is also fully accessible (from the parking lot to the washroom), and includes a geo-thermal heating and cooling system, which makes it much more efficient than the old building (and most other buildings in general!).

Passengers will be also able to enjoy complimentary WiFi service in-station, so they can remain connected and productive, and continue to do so aboard the train as well, using the on-board WiFi.

Once all of VIA’s services are transferred to the new station, the old station will be taken down.

The final phase of this project is to landscape the station’s surrounding area. Following this last step, there will be an official opening ceremony, currently scheduled for November of this year.

In the meantime, we welcome anyone to come by and have a look at our beautifully designed and energy efficient new station, a building we are proud to have in the VIA family.
